Trauma Group

What's Trauma Group?

Trauma Group is a mixed therapy support group designed to help survivors of trauma improve their quality of life. A key focus of the group is to process and heal from the effects of psychological trauma (PTSD, VT, Complex PTSD). This group is ideal for people who are currently safe and no longer exposed to the trauma(s).

 

Aims

  • Establish physical & emotional safety and stabilisation

  • Remembrance and mourning

  • Reconnect with your body using mindfulness

  • Understand how trauma affects your beliefs, values, and worldview

  • Develop skills in emotion regulation 

  • Identify your individual trauma narrative

  • Identify your trauma symptoms

  • Process the emotional and psychological impacts

  • Practise evidence-based emotion regulation & safety techniques

  • Work through the relational, social, financial, and physical effects

  • Integration 

 

Times

The group is ongoing and runs for 2.5 hours, once per week with allocated breaks throughout the year. The specific day, time and costs are discussed with confirmed Group members only.

IPV Group 

What's IPV Group?

Intimate Partner Violence Group is a women's therapy support group designed to help survivors of domestic violence process and heal from the harmful effects of long-term abuse. This group is ideal for people who are currently safe and no longer experiencing domestic violence.

 

Aims

  • Establish physical & emotional safety and wellbeing

  • Identify and understand the signs and symptoms of IPV

  • Identify risk factors for IPV

  • Identify the cycle of violence through the power & control wheel

  • Understand the types of abuse

  • Identify interventions for women victims of IPV 

  • Understand how IPV affects your health, beliefs, values, and worldview

  • Develop a personal safety plan

  • Identify and develop healthy social support networks

  • Create and maintain healthy functional boundaries 

  • Process the emotional and psychological impacts

  • Practise evidence-based emotion regulation & safety techniques

  • Work through the familial, relational, social, financial, and physical effects of domestic violence on the individual and any children

 

Times

The group is ongoing and runs for 2.5 hours, once per week with allocated breaks throughout the year. The specific day, time and costs are discussed with confirmed Group members only.

Relationship Group

What's Relationship Group?

Relationship Group is a mixed therapy support group designed to help clients create the relationships they want. This group is ideal for people who are having serious trouble with sex and love and are currently motivated to change problematic sex and love behaviours.

 

Aims

  • Understand healthy sexual and romantic behaviour  

  • Identify individual problematic sex and love patterns

  • Create specific bottom line safety behaviours

  • Understand codependency signs & symptoms

  • Develop emotion regulation skills 

  • Understand the links between early childhood attachment experiences and current adult relational patterns  

  • Process emotional & psychological impacts of abandonment & neglect

  • Process effects of childhood parental enmeshment and/or child abuse 

  • Examine the addiction cycle

  • Examine the stages of change model

  • Develop a personal recovery plan

 

Times

The group is ongoing and runs for 2.5 hours, once per week with allocated breaks throughout the year. The specific day, time and costs are discussed with confirmed Group members only.

 

Here & Now Group

What's Here & Now Group?

Here & Now Group is a mixed Yalom therapy group designed to help clients process and heal their unique relational dynamics. This group is ideal for people who are motivated to change and who are currently in regular therapy and have achieved relative emotional and psychological stability. 

 

Aims

  • Understand the group as a microcosm of life 

  • Use projection and defences as mechanisms for change

  • Understand how trauma affects your beliefs, values, and worldview

  • Develop skills in emotion regulation 

  • Practise working therapeutically in the here and now

  • Identify the relationship between symptoms and group dynamics

  • Process emotions in relationship with others 

  • Give and receive feedback

 

Times

The group is ongoing and runs for 2.5 hours, once per week with allocated breaks throughout the year. The specific day, time and costs are discussed with confirmed Group members only.
